SoundCloud: Because being lazy is a trait (in the music business)
November 20, 2009
SoundCloud “lets you move music fast & easy. The platform takes the daily hassle out of receiving, sending & distributing music for artists, record labels & other music professionals”
This actually looks really cool….If only I were musically talented.
They have a freemium model which seems stripped down when it comes to distributing music, but I believe the value is hidden within the social aspect of “moving music” to your contacts across the web with SoundCloud’s Dropbox feature. Just put the dropbox widget on your site any anyone can “drop” a song they want to share with you.

If you didn’t catch that last part of the video—SoundCloud has no File Size limits.
What SoundCloud is doing is pretty neat–However–if they truly wanted to stand out from the crowd, they should build a selling platform where all profits go directly to the Artist. It could be called SoundClouding! Or not being ripped off by itunes/name your music behemoth.
On that note, anyone going to see Deadmau5 this Wednesday at Terminal 5?
